About

My Approach

As a therapist, my approach is grounded in the belief that each individual is unique and deserving of personalized care. My goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where my clients can explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences. I aim to create a warm and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable opening up about their struggles. I strive to cultivate a strong therapeutic relationship built on empathy and trust.

In our sessions, I prioritize creating a collaborative relationship with my clients, where we work together to identify areas of concern and develop a treatment plan that feels achievable and meaningful and is based on your goals and values. I utilize an integrative and tailored approach to therapy, drawing from a range of evidence based techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness based approaches, and pychodynamic therapy. My aim is to help clients gain insight into their thoughts and behaviors, develop coping strategies for managing difficult emotions, and make positive changes in their lives. I believe that therapy is a process of growth and self discovery, and I feel honored to be a part of each client's journey.

Anxiety &
Depression

Depression is a chronic feeling of emptiness, sadness, or inability to feel pleasure that may appear to happen for no clear reason. It is distinct from grief and other emotions. Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).  Anxiety can be general or more specific (social anxiety, panic, phobias, PTSD, etc), and like depression, can occur in children and adults of all ages.  Both depression and anxiety can severely impair a person’s ability to function at work, school, and in social situations. These mood disorders can also interfere with a person’s relationships with family members and friends. Fortunately though, there are effective treatments for both. Let's work together to address your symptoms and work towards a brighter future.

Relationships

Sex Therapy

Sexual fulfillment and happiness are critical components to one's overall health and wellness. Common reasons for individuals and couples to seek sex therapy include experiencing feelings of shame or anxiety related to sexual intimacy, improving communication about sex and intimacy between partners, mismatched sexual desire between partners, sexual trauma, gender identity and sexual orientation difficulties, infidelity, sex addiction and/or pornography addiction. Couples and individuals often seek supportive therapy in conjunction with the medical treatment of sex related issues and disorders, such as arousal and libido disorders, painful intercourse, erectile dysfunction, and infertility concerns. I welcome couples who are ethically non monogamous and/or polyamorous, and understand the often complex nature of these relationship dynamics. A wide variety of techniques are available to treat the underlying psychological and emotional issues that may be contributing to sexual and intimacy concerns. I strive to create an environment where it is comfortable and easy to discuss your sexual health without judgment or embarrassment.

Trauma

It is estimated that 70% of adults have experienced at least one traumatic event in their lifetime.  Trauma is a response to a deeply disturbing event or experiences that overwhelms a person's ability to cope. The effects of trauma can be long lasting, and symptoms of trauma can include flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety, avoidance of triggers, depression, and difficulty with interpersonal relationships. Whether you are currently experiencing trauma, or have a history of childhood trauma, help is here. I have worked with many survivors of domestic violence, childhood physical or sexual abuse, and those with complex family histories and patterns. With the right support and treatment, it is possible to heal from trauma and move forward with a sense of hope and resilience.

Relationships are vital, but they can also be challenging and require work to maintain. Couples therapy can be helpful for couples at any stage of their relationship, whether they are dating, engaged, married or in a long term partnership. All couples encounter challenges in their relationship, including communication issues, sexual issues, infidelity & trust breaches, deployments, economic stressors, and/or parenting struggles and differences. Therapy can also help individuals and couples navigate significant life changes such as the birth of a child, serious illness of a child or partner, or the loss or death of a loved one. No two relationships are the same, and it is important that therapy be a safe space where both partners can feel heard and validated in their experiences. Whether you are seeking therapy individually or as a couple, many tools are available to enhance connection, trust and understanding in relationships.
