About Me
Stephanie Trecha is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who earned her B.S. in Psychology and her Master's in Social Work from San Diego State University. Stephanie has been working in the field of social work in San Diego for twenty years, with specialized care in the areas of crisis intervention, Child Welfare Services/DCFS, Adoptions, medical social work (adults and children), inpatient psychiatry (adults and children), and with federal and state inmates receiving acute psychiatric
care due to suicidality or acute psychosis.
As a therapist, Stephanie has worked with adolescents and adults across the lifespan, as well as with couples. Her emphasis is in working with those experiencing a variety of challenges, such as relationship issues, past or current trauma, anxiety, depression, crisis intervention, domestic violence, and issues related to one's sexuality. Stephanie is currently completing certification as a Sex Therapist (AASECT pending), as well as training in Gottman Couples Therapy (Level II). She also employs evidence based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused CBT, Family Systems Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy and Art Therapy.
​Stephanie is a lover of the arts and painting and is an avid reader. She loves the outdoors, camping and hiking,
and recently took up archery. Her self care activities include meditation, beach time, breath-work, journaling and
getting grounded in nature. Stephanie resides in Carlsbad (San Diego) with her two daughters.
